About You and this Role

We build a world-class platform that empowers some of the largest enterprises to create dynamic, data-driven, and inclusive digital experiences. We’re looking for a Product Designer with a strong passion for accessibility and inclusive design to help us evolve our platform into a cohesive, seamless, and accessible experience for everyone.

While this role involves the full range of product design responsibilities, you’ll spend most of your time ensuring our designs meet accessibility standards and best practices. You’ll collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, and our design systems team to define, test, and deliver solutions that are not only beautiful and functional, but usable by all.

You’ll also play a key role in advancing accessibility maturity across our design organization—contributing to WCAG-compliant patterns, auditing components, and helping others design inclusively from the start. You’ll collaborate closely with the Design Systems team (Lexicon/Clay) and product designers from the Platform Experience area to ensure consistent accessibility standards across Liferay DXP.

Key Objectives

  • Within 60 days: Learn about Liferay’s accessibility standards and analyze accessibility strengths, gaps, and redundancies in collaboration with senior designers.

  • By 90 days: Contribute to accessible, flexible, and extensible interaction patterns and components, working closely with engineers and design system maintainers.

  • By 180 days: Validate the accessibility of delivered solutions through testing and documentation, helping evolve accessibility guidelines within the design system.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant of experience designing product interactions with attention to accessibility and usability, addressing diverse user needs and edge cases.

  • Experience contributing to WCAG-compliant design systems and ensuring accessibility standards are met in design and implementation.

  • Proven record of collaborating across disciplines (design, engineering, product management) to deliver high-quality, accessible solutions.

  • Experience conducting usability and accessibility testing to validate and measure the success of your designs.

  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React) for creating flexible and accessible UI components and spot accessibility issues.

  • Familiarity with accessibility auditing tools (axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) and assistive technologies (screen readers, keyboard navigation).

  • Advanced or fluent in English to communicate effectively with the global design team and stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to or contribution to a scalable, accessible design system or component library for a SaaS application.

  • Background in defining visual or interaction design direction that integrates accessibility from the start.

  • Experience building responsive, accessible UI components with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React preferred).

  • Knowledge of assistive technologies, accessibility auditing tools, and inclusive design methodologies.

  • Accessibility certifications (e.g., IAAP CPACC, WAS, ADS, or equivalent).

  • Italian language skills are a plus.
